Knoxville: Free Fun This Weekend


East Tennessee Historical Society 2009 Regional History Fair

Come out this weekend for lots of fun free activities to celebrate our region’s history. There will be all day free admission to the Museum of East Tennessee and the Knoxville Museum of Art. 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Free trolley rides and free open house at Blount Mansion, James White Fort, Mabry Hazen House.  Day long activities including a Living History Timeline from the Cherokee to World War II soldiers, craft demonstrations include weaving, spinning, mountain berry basket making, quilting, and blacksmithing.

2009 Great Rubber Duck Race

Head down to Volunteer landing starting a 9:30am for the Great Rubber Duck Race. There is free parking at the City County Building and free inflatables, climbing walls, giant slide, games and prizes. Plus you will get to see 40,000 rubber ducks dumped into the Tennessee River!

9am-1pm, One of my favorite places to spend a Saturday morning in Knoxville!

Back to School Bash: Turkey Creek Earth Fare

A free event  from 10 am-1 pm is a culmination of all the back to school fun highlighted all month. There will be healthy lunch demonstrations, brain stimulating activities, a store scavenger hunt and more.

2009 Shoney’s KidCare Photo ID Program

Stop by West Town Mall Saturday 11-5pm or Foothills Mall Sunday from 12-6pm and get free Photo ID’s developed by the National Center For Missing and Exploited Children, including fingerprinting. A variety of safety representatives will be on-site to provide parents and children with additional child safety information.
