Target Coupon System Changing?

target-logoI was a Target today to grab a few things including baby wash for $0.19!

Johnson & Johnson Head to Toe Baby Wash-$2.19
– $1/1 Johnson’s coupon HERE
– $1/1 Target coupon HERE
Final cost=$.19

While checking out the manufacturer’s coupon beeped.  It said the item the coupon was for was not in my order.  The cashier checked, saw the soap and then pressed a button and the coupon went through. However, she did tell me that starting Monday they could no longer do that.  She said something was changing in their computer system that would no longer allow them to manual push coupons through.

Has anyone else heard this?

I am reserving my thoughts about how silly that is if the item is in fact in your order (like today) until I see that the system has actually changed.  Target is not always the easiest place to use coupons so I will be a little sad if it gets even harder.

The same thing happened to me yesterday. It was for the same item too! Weird. The manufacturer's coupon. He had to ask someone. He said, “She did buy it.” But he also said they were changing their policy.

    BOO!

This was at the Turkey Creek Target.

  2. I had the same thing happen to me a few days ago. They acted like I was stealing the items! I even told them it was in Target's policy that you could use a manufacturer coupon and a store coupon. However, they gave me a huge hassle and even did NOT honor some of the coupons although they were clearly valid. They told me of the same “system change”. They eased up on me a little when they scanned a manfacturer coupon from J&J baby powder that was actually ATTACHED to the bottle and it beeped at them and said the item didn't exist!! Crazy!!

  3. Oh no. I was hoping maybe my cashier was wrong.
Looks like things will be interesting come Monday.

Wow. I better collect my coupons and head that way this weekend.

  5. I was told the same thing. They said that they were not going to manaully push coupons through
if it beeped.. I, too, think this is ridiculous. I had a free dog food coupon today that it would
not take and they had to call a manager over.
    They are not coupon friendly.

  6. What a shame. I've had enough problems there with coupons that I've nearly stopped going. It's not worth being treated like a coupon criminal.

  7. Target and Victoria's Secret have been very poor about accepting coupons lately. Target denies me often for valid coups, and at VS you would think the associate is being forced to pay for the item herself with all the dirty looks I get. It is like pulling teeth. If you don't want people to use coupons, DONT SEND THEM TO US!

  8. I have had the most problems at Target in Maryville. They wouldn't let me use a $1 off coupon on something because it was .99. (So I stood there and had them take every single item off my order when the coupons wouldn't work.) But I find Turkey Creek and West Hills to be easier to deal with. I don't always go to Target. Maybe once a month if there are lots of free deals. It's too far for me to drive and takes too much time for me to get there every week. And with the coupon problems I am just not too motivated.
