Kroger:My Trip & Some Deals

krogerlogoI have decided to make a shift in the family menu. We are going healthy- well healthier. Less processed food, more fresh and organic. So my couponing strategy had to change a little and my savings was not quite as high-30%. Sigh. But, a positive note I only spent $80 which is under my $100 limit.

In other really exciting news– the Kroger in Fountain City is moving to a new location November 5th. A few GREAT things about this, a new huge Kroger store similar to the one in Farragut close to me.

And- a MOVING SALE. Select items through out the store are  on “special sale”. They have bright orange tags. I had both of my sons with me so I did not get to do a whole lot of browsing but in the coming weeks I am sure there will be lots of deals to be had.

I don’t know if they are good enough right now to make a special drive but I will try to keep my coupon binder handy and an eye on the sales. That being said if you stop by the Fountain City Kroger in the next few weeks let us know what kind of deals are available.

  1. Kristie Cor… is going to smack you…….

  2. Ok, we are soooo going organic together LOL! I just decided the same thing! Too funny! You should check out the recipe on my blog for homemade bread, it's from Money Saving Mom…very healthy, and cheap! Easy to make too. Maybe we could feed off each other and learn together! BTW this is Rochele from http://www.dollaroutofadime.blogspot.com for some reason it won't let me comment that way.

  3. Suzanne- What? Why?

  4. Rochele- Thanks! That sounds time consuming but maybe worth it. Your strawberry bread recipe was good so I will trust you on this one. :0)

  5. If you have a bread machine it takes five minutes I swear easy peasy!

  6. Sadly, I do not. Old fashioned work for me I guess. :0)

  7. Good for you! It is harder to get those high % savings when buying healthy staples, but there is a really good deal on Green Giant frozen veggies this week.

They are on sale for $1.25.
There is a $1/1 any GG frz veg (I found it on Money Saving Mom) and $1/2 on coupons.com. Add in the $1/2 on cellfire and shortcuts.
Then there is a catalina deal: buy 3 GG frozen boxed veg- $1 OYNO, buy 4- $2 OYNO, buy 5+- $3 OYNO.

I did this deal twice using various paper coupons. My method was probably not the most efficient, but it was still a money maker for me.

  8. That's her Kroger and her secret sales. 😉

  9. I went last night to the Fnt. City Kroger to check out what was discounted due to the move. I was able to get several organic/healthy items I needed. I got agave nectar and sunbutter (oh, my goodness, delicious-I found out when I signed up for the free sample). I had a coupon so with the sale it ended up being about half the regular price. Also, I got some omega gummies for my kids. The spices, oils, healthy foods, vitamins, candles were all on 40% off. And I used my Lara Bars coupons to get 2 free. And the rice wine vinegar was .66 after $1 coupon. Also with the Kroger mailer for back to school, I got pencils for .20 , .01 for glue (!) and big ream (500 sheets) of printer paper for about $1.50. Otherwise I got a lot of produce which was on sale for $1 /pound. It was worth the extra drive time since I got some freebies, some very cheap items, and a few things for less than half price.
