Free Pomegranates at Earth Fare

It is day 6 of Earth Fare’s 12 Days of Christmas. Today’s freebie-2 Free Pomegranates with a $5 purchase.

After sliding down our driveway and down our street THE HUSBAND returned home this morning so our Thursday night trip to Free Family dinner night at Earth Fare seems in jeopardy. If, however we do get to go what is your favorite way to use Pomegranates? Do you just eat them or do you have a great salad or recipe you add them to?

  1. We tried a pomegranate a few weeks ago and were not prepared for the “seeds” inside each little bite. I would love to know the best way to eat these as well. I love the taste. Don’t love the crunchy bits. Am I missing something?

  2. My daughter separates the seeds out and snacks on them….kind of like snacking on nuts or sunflower seeds.

  3. Holiday Cranberry-Pomegranate Sauce

    Original Recipe Yield 3 cups

    Ingredients

    * 1 (12 ounce) bag fresh cranberries, rinsed and sorted
    * 1 cup white sugar
    * 1 cup orange juice
    * 1 teaspoon orange zest
    * 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
    * 2 cinnamon sticks
    * 1 pomegranate, peeled and seeds separated

    Directions

    1. Mix the cranberries, sugar, orange juice, orange zest, ground cloves, and cinnamon sticks together in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Lower heat to medium, and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from the heat and cool.
    2. Stir the pomegranate seeds into the cranberry mixture, and refrigerate at least 8 hours or overnight. Remove the cinnamon sticks before serving.

  4. No they are just a lot of work, the seeds are supposed to be the best part. I’m not too crazy about eating more than a few, I find them too tart. I like the Holiday Cranberry-Pomegranate Sauce I posted above.
