Can you say date night?! On September 29th, 2011, Knoxville is going to be a BlueOut! Bluegrass, Blue Moon, Pabst Blue Ribbon, BBQ and Bleu Cheese Cole Slaw and your favorite charity winning more than $5,ooo.

I told you about the preliminary BlueOut Knoxville voting here.   Over 8,000 votes were cast and now we are into  final week of this competition that will benefit one local non-profit $5000.

The three blue ribbon finalists are:

Anna’s Angels -a relatively new thrift store that gives college scholarships)
Random Acts of Flowers -They repurpose flowers from events to deliver to patients in hospitals
SOCM -an environmental group helping to eliminate mountain top extraction and supporting a more green collar economy
You can now vote for your favorite finalist! Voting if Free!

Then, on September 29th there is going to be a big party to celebrate the winners and to raise even more money for local nonprofits. I am so excited not only for a fun date night with THE HUSBAND but for a fun event that is supporting a lot of good work in our community.

  15. I voted for Random Acts of Flowers. Just the thought of receiving flowers is special to most people, but when they are donated to patients (those who could use some much needed enjoyment(, they are extra special. This is a wonderful program.

  16. I voted for Random Acts of Flowers because my husband spent a lot of time in the hospital, and my mother-in-law is in a nursing home, and I’ve found that small things can really make a big difference in how one feels in those situations.  I shared on Facebook from the BlueOut facebook page (so that their blurb showed up on my wall), and I tweeted about BlueOut from their blog with a link and the tag.  Thanks for letting us know about this fun event, and thanks for this great contest!
