Ever wanted to volunteer at the Knoxville Zoo?!
Knoxville Zoo is recruiting volunteers who are interested in supporting the zoo’s mission of conservation and education. This Saturday, July 11th, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., people interested in being a part of Knoxville Zoo’s team of volunteers are invited to come by the zoo to learn how they can contribute their time and talent.
Those interested in volunteering can talk to current Knoxville Zoo volunteers and zoo staff to learn more about the variety of ways to get involved. Zoo volunteers assist the zoo with programs and events throughout the zoo year-round, including animal education programs for zoo visitors and assisting with special fundraisers like BOO! at the Zoo. The zoo has a variety of ways adult and youth volunteers can be involved, from high-profile interaction with guests as well as behind-the-scenes.
Knoxville Zoo invests in their volunteers with specialized training to prepare them to be well-informed ambassadors. Zoo volunteers are required to work a minimum of 50 hours and attend six monthly meetings each year. The sign-up cost to cover uniforms and training materials is $75.00 for adults over 18 and $125.00 for ages 13 to 17. New volunteers must also be a Knoxville Zoo member to enter the program. Zoo volunteers can earn credit toward their annual zoo membership based on the number of hours they participate.
