Zoo Knoxville Offers $2 Off Admission March 12-16, 2018

To celebrate Spring Break, Zoo Knoxville is offering $2 off general admission tickets Monday, March 12 through Friday, March 16, 2018.

Zoo Knoxville’s new Gibbon Trails and Langur Landing in Boyd Family Asian Trek, a $6 million multi-acre habitat for white-handed gibbons and silvered leaf langurs, immerses guests in a 360 degree aerial experience. The habitats are designed with multiple viewing levels that allow the primates to pass directly over the heads of visitors or be eye-to- eye with them in a 60-foot- tall treehouse accessible by a suspension bridge. The new expansion also allows soaring views of Tiger Forest and incorporates a new outdoor training demonstration area for Malayan tigers.

Gibbon Trails is home to one of the zoo’s most beloved residents, Georgie, and his new companion Naomi. Langur Landing is home to Walter, Teagan, Melody and two-month-old baby Opie, a family of silvered leaf langurs that are a new
species to Zoo Knoxville. The zoo also has a full schedule of special Bird Show sessions and animal encounters with zoo staff for the week, weather permitting. Popular zoo activities such as giraffe feeding, camel rides, the Zoo Choo Train and the Fuzzy-Go- Round carousel will also be open.

Discounted tickets may be purchased at the zoo’s ticket window during regular zoo hours.

Zoo Knoxville $5 Off Admission Now Through Feb 28, 2018

Zoo Knoxville is offering $5 off admission tickets during Kroger Discount Days, December 1 through February 28, 2018.

During Kroger Discount Days, guests can discover why winter is an enjoyable time to visit the zoo. Many animals, including red pandas, river otters, elephants, gorillas, red wolves, lions and tigers, enjoy the cooler
temperatures. On days when the temperature drops below 40 degrees, some animals will be moved indoors, but visitors can still see many in their indoor viewing areas.

The Pilot Flying J Wee Play Adventure is a popular indoor area that’s an entertaining stop for creative play during visits as well.A December trip to the zoo may even include a visit to Santa’s Village, a special holiday encounter and photo opportunity with Santa Claus. Santa’s Village will be open for holiday photos and Christmas wishes December
14 through 17, from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. each day in the heated Kids Cove tent.

Discounted tickets can be purchased at the zoo ticket window during regular zoo hours and online at
zooknoxville.org. Discounted admission tickets must be used by Feb. 28, 2018, and cannot be combined with
any other promotion, discount, or coupon.

Zoo Knoxville Eclipse Weekend Discount Admission!

Zoo Knoxville is planning to celebrate the eclipse by offering $4 off general admission Saturday, August 19, through Monday, August 21, 2017. On Monday, August 21, the zoo will be providing free viewing glasses to the first 100 guests and all visitors are invited to observe and document animal behavior during the eclipse with commemorative cards for the occasion.

How animals will behave during the eclipse is a bit of a mystery given the rarity of the event and is generating a lot of interest with zoo staff and visitors alike. Zoo staff will be doing special eclipse programming and activities, including helping guests identify animal behavior that appears to be directly related to the eclipse, which begins at 1:04 p.m., occludes 99% of the sun at 2:34 p.m. and ends at 3:58 p.m.

Zoo Knoxville will also have a limited number of eclipse viewing glasses for sale on Monday, August 21, for safe viewing of the event. Guests are also invited to bring their own viewing glasses. Discounted tickets can be purchased online at zooknoxville.org using the promo code eclipse17 at checkout, at the zoo’s ticket window or by calling (865) 637-5331 during regular zoo hours.

Summer is here and that means plenty of free time for my kiddos.  I love anything that will encourage them to keep reading this summer.  To that end, here are a few of the Summer Reading programs available this year.  There may be others, locally or nationally, that are out there and I would love to hear about them in the comments section!  I hope one of these will provide some motivation and fun for your family this summer.

Once your child has completed his/her first level, bring the Level 1 reading program form to the ticket office at Smokies Park, and exchange it for prizes and free tickets to a Smokies game. We did this last summer and it was great!  There are several levels you can reach, get all the details here.

And don’t forget they also offer the Straight A program-
