I have been getting a lot of emails regarding school supplies and the best way to stock up with out spending a lot of money or going to ten different stores. So here it is, my best back to school savings tip if you want to save money and be efficient with your time.
Use the price matching policies at Wal Mart or Target to get the lowest price on all the supplies you need in one stop.
- Gather all your weekly store ads (Walgreens, CVS, Target, K Mart, Staples, Office Depot, etc)
- Grab a marker and circle the best deals on the supplies you need.
- Make a list
- Head to the closest Wal Mart or Target with your list and you circulars.
- Gather all the supplies you want, go to the customer service desk, show them your circled deals and they will price match them all for you. You just got the best deals available for the lowest price possible-in one stop!
You should know that the products will need to be name brand, for example Crayola, for either store to match. They cannot price match with each stores brand. So, you may be able to get better deals on store brands other places but, if you are looking to be efficient this is the way to go.
You still have a few weeks worth of ads before school starts so I would start this process now and make one trip a week until you have everything you need.
A few examples to get you planning. If you still have all your ads from this week you could circle:
