My Crazy Walgreens Trip: Spent $7.26, Saved 63%

In addition to CVS I also stopped by Walgreens today. I grabbed one of the Walgreens coupon books and sale ads as I walked in the door.

I went back to grab some of the Quattro razors that were on sale, to my surprise there were plenty there and they were not marked as on sale. I grabbed two refills anyway and headed to get some of the contact solution that was supposed to be on sale. There was none there and no signage either.

I was started to think maybe I was confused. I  looked through the ad. I did not see the contact solution anywhere and the razors were advertised as buy one get one 50% off. I looked through the ad again.

At this point I was beginning to panic. Had I looked at the wrong ad yesterday when doing match ups? Had I posted all the wrong deals? Did I need to run home and change everything?

Then the deals started to look familiar, I checked the dates. The store had not changed the ads at the front yet. I was looking at last week’s ad. Big relief.

I did find a sales associate who said they were out of the saline. Someone had been in at 4am and bought all they had, but they expected more Tuesday.  So, I definitely had to change my plan and about that time THE HUSBAND called and said to hurry home, he had two crying kids and we needed more band-aids.  What?! So here is what I quickly did:

Transaction #1

Schick Quattro Razor System or Cartridges (4pk)-$8.99, Get $5 RR
-$5 Schick Quattro printable (no longer available)
Out of Pocket=$3.99 + $.83 tax=$4.82
Got Back=$5 RR

Transaction #2

Schick Quattro Razor System or Cartridges (4pk)-$8.99, Get $5 RR
-$4 off Schick Quattro for Women refill coupon from 9/25 SS
Balance Bar (1.76oz)$1.59, Get $1.59 RR
-$5 RR from Transaction #1
Out of Pocket=$1.49 +.$.83 $.12 tax
Got Back=$1.60 RR

Trip Totals

Out of Pocket=$7.26
Product Value=$19.57
Saved=$12.31 or 63% and I have $1.60 in RR for my next trip

**Note I did not get another $5 RR for the razor because I used the $5 RR I earned from buying a razor. (had I used a RR form another item the $5 razor RR would have printed, this is just one thing to remember with Walgreens) I knew that would happen and I was ok with that. My big plan had been thrown off by lack of contact solution and the phone call from THE HUSBAND. So, I am happy with what I got and hope to get back to Walgreens for a few more deals later this week.

How was your Walgreens trip this week?
