Our Hasbro Kre-O Transformers Battle for Energon set arrived, all 379 pieces. The boys saw it and immediately starting jumping up and down asking to put it together, please, please, please. I did not play with building sets growing up and I was less than sure what a transformer should look like when properly assembled. Sometimes it makes me laugh that I am the mom of four boys. I might also point out, THE HUSBAND has a degree in structural engineering- I do not.
First we had to decide who or what to build. This set has enough pieces to build both Optiums Prime and Megatron in their vehicle modes or as robots. The boys chose the robots.
We built Optimus Prime first. I must admit it was actually fun. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow. Here is our Optimus Prime. Next was the Megatron tanks. I left that for THE HUSBAND.
Overall I loved the set. The size was a little intimidating at first but the building was easy-thanks to the instructions and it really held the boys’ attention. (They are 5 and 6). They were proud of what they built and how they worked together. But, here is my favorite part, at the end of the day they are still playing with a toy they opened early in the morning. That rarely happens.

MEGATRON has working treads, an opening cockpit, and a capture cage in vehicle mode, and removable missiles as a robot. You can also build an Energon vault with doors that swing open.
