Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies: Our Trip & Homeschool Discount

We kicked off  the Van Dyke Homeschool Adventure with a trip to Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies.

I took the boys yesterday to celebrate a friend’s birthday, to try out the homeschool discount they offer and, I am counting it as our first day of school.

Yep, I have officially registered my oldest son for homeschool Kindergarten. I have a large box of books, papers, art supplies and manuals sitting on my dining room table.  I am excited, I am a little nervous, I am ready, I cannot believe we have to start so soon.  Back to the Aquarium.

All Gatlinburg Ripley’s Attractions offer a home school rate. To receive the home school rate you must present a home school group membership card or an attendance record for each student. The home school rate is valid for the home school student(s) and accompanying parent(s).
Children (grades K-8) – $9 plus tax ($10.02)
Children (pre K) – $4.99 plus tax ($5.58)
Children (under 2) – free
Adults – $7.00 plus tax ($7.82)

We had a great time! The boys were just amazed by all the exhibits. The hardest part was keeping them from running to the next thing to jump and point and yell. They loved the underwater tunnel, I think the Sawfish was the overwhelming favorite.

Has anyone else ever been? What did you think? I am excited to go back again on a fall weekday when it my be a little less crowded.
