May the 4th Be With You: Star Wars Fighter Pods Review and Giveaway

I recently learned of a new holiday- International Star Wars Day. It is May the fourth.

When I was first asked to review the new Hasbro Star Wars Fighter Pods in honor of Star Wars Days I told THE HUSBAND about it. “When is it?” he asked.  “May the 4th.”

He chuckled. At this point I had no idea why. “Random, isn’t it?” I asked.

He gave me a funny look, “May the fourth, honey.” THE HUSBAND was apparently expecting me to understand something.  “May the fourth,” he said again slowly.  Nothing.

“May the fourth be with you.”

In my defense I am new to the whole Star Wars thing. I had not seen one until I became a mom of boys and I don’t think I have made it through an entire movie yet.  That being said, I laughed really hard at May the 4th and there are four HUGE Star Wars fans in this house to make up for me.  I was excited to see what they thought of the Star Wars Fighter Pods.

I was given the STAR WARS FIGHTER PODS Series I Snowspeeder VS. AT-AT Pack and two vehicles and 16 characters and two Fighter Pods Mystery Packs, with two characters each to review.

Fighter Pods are miniature collectible versions of the characters from all six Star Wars films and The Clone Wars animated series. You try to knock down as many of your opponent’s figures as possible by spinning, launching or rolling your pods into battle.

The boys were jumping up and down while I opened them. The figures were instantly set up in a good vs. evil battle.  It was really fun to sit and listen to them making battle plans and “discussing” who should be good and evil.

These are small, while that may make them a little easier to lose it makes them a lot easier to take with us on the go. They will fit in the boys pockets or my purse so they can fend of boredom almost anywhere we go.

I like that these have no moving parts that will fall off or tiny guns (like our Legos) that will eventually end up in my vacuum cleaner.
While the game is pretty clear it still leaves a lot of room for imagination and for the boys to make up their own rules. I also like that these will work for almost any age. My 6, 4 and 2 year old can all play together. (Because they are small the manufacturer recommends ages 4 and up, but there was no way my 2 year old wasn’t going to join in) Even THE HUSBAND battled a little last night!  These a hit in our house.

To help everyone celebrate Star Wars Day we are giving away some Star Wars Fighter Pods!
