Last week a new restaurant, Zoe’s Kitchen, opened here in Knoxville. Simple. Tasty.Fresh! is their tagline and they are self descried at “Mediterranean-inspired comfort food”. Zoe’s food (all expect the chocolate chip cookies, which are still good)  is made from scratch onsite at each restaurant and the menu offers gluten-free and vegetarian options. They offer dining in, take out and catering.

Saturday night THE HUSBAND and I went and checked it out. The store is bright, casual, fresh and clean. There are different styles of tables and booths, so it is a good place to meet one friend or for the whole family.  As a mom, I checked out the distance between tables and it is plenty big enough for a stroller.

The staff was friendly and helpful (way before they knew why I was there). We could not decide what to order so they offered some suggestions.

We had hummus and pita first, Yum.  Then it was on to the entrees.THE HUSBAND  was served the Steak Kabobs, (steak kabobs, red bell peppers, onions, grilled potatoes, roasted vegetables). They were really well seasoned and seriously yummy. The picture above is his very empty plate.  All I can say is I almost had to fight him for some of the vegetables. I had Shrimp Kabobs, (charbroiled kabobs, zucchini, rice pilaf, cucumber raita, side greek salad). My plate light and fresh and a great combination of tastes. Don’t worry, I shared some of mine with THE HUSBAND too.

We then sampled the famous chicken salad, pasta salad and the giant cookie above. They were all good! There was nothing I did not like! I also checked out the  kid’s menu. All the options are something my kids would eat and there is nothing fried on it! I love that.

Zoe’s Kitchen was good, very good. It is a fantastic addition to the restaurant scene in Knoxville.
