There are several great produce deals going on at ALDI this week.  My favorite is the 5lb bag of baking potatoes for only $.99!  Have I mentioned I love potatoes? I could live on them alone.  I am thinking some twice baked potatoes or some homemade french fries will be on the menu this week.

ALDI’s Opens Store in Knoxville

I have never shopped at Aldi’s before, but had heard about the new store opening at Schaad Road.  So  I thought I’d go check it out…along with many of you Knoxvillians. Wow.  What at time to do a little grocery research!

They seem to have a good price on produce and on staples (you know…flour and sugar and the like).  They don’t “do coupons”, so my trips there will be somewhat limited.  I would love to hear what you know about Aldi’s and how they compare to other stores in the area.

A few things to note:

You have to bring your own grocery bags. They don’t have any…unless you purchase a reusable one.

You should bring a quarter so that you can get a cart. That’s right.  They charge you a quarter to “rent” a cart.  You’ll get it back when you return the cart.  I guess that’s one way to save on overhead…they don’t have to pay some kid minimum wage to run through the parking lot wrangling carts all day.

My overall experience was a good one. They have a great looking and very clean store.  The HUSBAND snapped a few pictures and he said that the architectural style was decent too…(whatever he meant by that).

What is your experience with Aldi’s?
