$1 Fun In Oak Ridge

SMC Banner Art

There is a lot of frugal fun going on in Oak Ridge this summer!

The Children’s Museum of Oak Ridge will host special activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 6, during Imagination Station Summer Camp Kickoff and Dollar Day. The kickoff will feature a science show, face painting, an open pottery studio and trains in the outdoor garden railroad. Enjoy a lunch of hotdogs, chips and ice cream, with each item offered for $1.
Thanks, Suzanne!

If you live in Oak Ridge and don’t want to drive in to Knoxville to see a free movie at a Regal Cinema you’re in luck! Cinemark Tinseltown USA has their Summer Movie Clubhouse promotion from June 10th-August 12th. Each Wednesday at 1o am they will be offering a children’s movie for $1! A pass for all 10 movies can be purchased in advance for $5, or can be purchased separately at the box office for $1 per show. What a great idea for a rainy day!

Free Fishing Day In Tennessee

100_4668Need something to do with all of the fishing gear the kids made while at the Bass Pro Shop’s Free Family Activities? Well, June 6th is Tennessee’s Free Fishing Day.  There will be Kid’s Fishing Day events held all over the state, here is the link to all the events going on in East Tennessee.

All fishing on public waters will be free that day. Residents and non-residents  are exempt from license and permit requirements for that day. Ages 15 and younger, may fish free for the entire week, starting Free Fishing Day and continuing through  Friday, June 12.

THE HUSBAND (who loves to fly fish) is so excited to take the boys out fishin’. Let me know if you go out- and if you catch anything!

Thanks Gabrielle

Bruster’s Free Kid’s Cones

brustersI have been seeing Free Kids Cones at Bruster’s talked about all over. I decided to call the two stores here in Knoxville and confirm they are participating.  They both seemed a little confused by my question and both told me they do that all the time. What!?!? Has anyone else heard of this? I am a little disappointed I did not already know this but very glad to know it now.

Knox County Library Children’s Festival of Reading

llama_bookDon’t forget, Knox County Public Library will host the Children’s Festival of Reading this Saturday May 30, 2009, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at World’s Fair Park. It will be a day full of great children’s authors, illustrators, storytellers, musicians, and other great fun!

This year’s special guest author is Anna Dewdney, author of Llama Llama Red Pajama and Llama Llama Mad at Mama.
A reader, Karen emailed me this and I thought it would be good to share.

There is also a lesser known author, Michael Shoulders, that will be there. He is from middle TN. He came to our school last year. He is NOT TO BE MISSED!! He raps one of his books….hilarious! He puts on a show that brings down the house.

So come on out and enjoy the fun.
